It’s funny how I feel am a fashion fanatic yet I haven’t been very experimental with my outfits. Colourblocking as a trend has been around for years but I seldom wore anything completely colourful.
For years, I hid behind darker colours to conceal as much possible. As a pear shape woman, I would always opt for darker coloured bottoms to downplay what I didn’t want to emphasise. However, off late I’m feeling a lot more confident about these big hips and thighs! Guess what changed? I’d say being consistent with my exercise routine. No I don’t diet or want to lose weight but I have been feeling a lot more confident than I’ve felt in years. I feel empowered and bold in my thoughts which is gradually translating into brighter fashion choices.
Featured here is a high-waist rust coloured pencil skirt paired with a basic magenta long sleeve crew neck t-shirt. I kept the accessories to a bare minimum by carrying a basic black tote bag, nude pumps and a dainty necklace. The idea was to let the colours pop on their own without adding too many dramatic elements.
What do you think about this colour pairing. Do you like it? I urge you all to scout through your wardrobe, pick up a few pieces and mix and match. Let your instincts guide you and have fun experimenting! Cheers..
